Ethiopia Value Chain Project Digitally Connects Stakeholders

Ethiopia’s Sustainable Vegetable Value Chain (SVVC) Project empowers 3,000 smallholders and has made impressive progress over 9 months since launching Farmforce. Supporting smallholders to enter the formal horticultural value chain, the initiative supported by IFC – International Finance Corporation and Utviklingsfondet – The Development Fund of Norway enables increased productivity and market linkages.

Through Farmforce’s web and mobile platform, several partners (Utviklingsfondet – The Development Fund, Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA), Women Empowerment in Action) and JoyTech Plc can easily share and view data to coordinate operations, seeing in real-time the status on the ground. With limited internet connectivity in the rural areas, SVVC’s field agents collect data on Farmforce mobile offline, including farm GPS positions, then sync to the cloud servers when internet access is possible.

We’re proud of this rapid progress and excited to see this exciting partnership continue to grow and evolve!
